Customer Review: Cute, compact, but too tight for Panasonic Lumix FZ35

I had read a review on how the Tamrac Aero 20 case was considered a bit too tight for the Panasonic Lumix FZ35, with little room for accessories, but the other recommended cases in Amazon looked much larger and I did want to keep things as compact as possible. So I ordered both the Tamrac Aero 20 and the Case Logic DCB-304 to compare for myself. It only took a few minutes to load up each case with camera and accessories to see the obvious choice. The Tamrac requires you to follow it's shape and insert the camera lens first, so that you see the unprotected LCD screen when you reach in to grab it. The tight fit makes that grab a struggle for sure, plus I was concerned I might fingerprint or damage the LCD Screen. The Case Logic case, though it looks MUCH bigger in all the pics, is just a bit bigger in reality, making it possible to insert the camera sideways with plenty of zippered pockets for extra batteries, SD cards, and Standard AV cords. The side fit is snug enough for protection, yet lose enough to get some large man hands in there. Unfortunately, the rather large HDMI to Mini-HDMI optional accessory cord needed to plug the camera directly into today's HD flat screen TV's, did not readily fit in a pocket, but you could put it under the camera or top if you know you might be needing it. The Case Logic model also does NOT have room for the tulip-shaped lens hood or battery charger, but I feel it holds all of the most important accessories in the smallest possible case. The Tamrac is a nicely made little case, available in bright red or black, but I dislike the hidden zipper design and feel it's very compact size is much better suited for a camera smaller than the Panasonic FZ35. For my money, I'd pick the Case Logic DB-304 for the FZ35.
